Lyme Disease

As someone who has been treated for Lyme disease, I know first hand the effects it has on the body, lives and relationships of the individual. In a process of healing, I use my art practice to understand and express the illness as I regain my health. The work includes fabric, embroidery, fur, wax, wood, clay, metal and watercolor as mediums. A series of embroidery hoops with wax, fur and thread reference the bulls-eye rash and animals connected as carriers of Lyme disease. Watercolor paintings with media added to the surface express the individual’s experience, both mentally and physically. I am at the point of expanding the project to include the stories of others who have dealt with the disease, through connecting with support groups, fundraisers and practitioners who treat the disease.  Please contact me if you are interested in participating.
